Cookie policy

The short version

This site uses two things that need your permission, both from Google: the Google Ads tag we use to measure which adverts bring visitors to the monument, and Google Analytics, which shows us which pages are read and how people reach them.

The association advertises its guided visits on Google. To know which adverts work, and to stop paying for the ones that do not, the site loads the Google Ads tag AW-17862259314 through gtag.js. Alongside it the site loads Google Analytics (property G-3EBHR21DK0), which counts visits in aggregate and tells us which content people are interested in. Both write cookies in your browser, which is why we ask you first.

There is nothing else: no heat maps, no social media buttons, no third-party advertising inside the pages. And the two purposes are not tied together: the notice has Reject and Accept to decide in one go, and Choose to turn on only one of them. You can keep the statistics and leave the advertising out, or the other way round.

Nothing runs before you accept

We use Google Consent Mode v2. When the page opens, and before anything from Google loads, the site declares advertising storage, user data for advertising, ad personalisation and analytics storage all denied. It also turns on ads data redaction: until you give permission, Google receives no identifiers.

If you accept, the permissions you ticked become granted and only those tags start writing their cookies. Whatever you leave unticked stays denied and writes none. In every case we store your answer, so you are not asked again on every page.

With JavaScript disabled no tag loads at all: there is nothing to consent to, and the site reads exactly the same.

The YouTube videos

Pages with video do not load the player: they show a still image with a play button. Until you press it, your browser does not connect to YouTube and nothing of theirs is stored.

Once you press it, the video opens from youtube-nocookie.com. From that point on YouTube is in charge: whatever it does with playback data is governed by Google's policies, not by this one.

The blog news section

The news section shows headlines from our blog, which is hosted on Blogger (Google). The headlines and text are served from this site, but the small photo next to each item is downloaded from Google's servers, as happens with any image linked from elsewhere.

In downloading them, Google learns the IP address of your connection and the data any server receives when serving a file. No advertising or measurement cookie is set for this reason, and you do not need to accept anything for the images to appear.

The news text is also refreshed by reading the blog's public listing. If you would rather not load any of this, simply do not open the news section: it plays no part in the rest of the site.

The contact form

The form uses no cookies. It is processed on the loscorralesderota.com server itself; there is no external service and no third-party captcha. To hold back spam, the server checks how long the form took to fill in and how many submissions arrive from the same IP address, and writes the discarded ones to a temporary log.

Changing your mind

At the foot of every page there is a «Cookie preferences» button: press it and the notice comes back with the same two options. Your new answer replaces the old one.

You can also delete the cookies and local storage for loscorralesderota.com from your browser settings. If you do, the site forgets your decision and will ask again.

After 12 months we ask again anyway, even if you do nothing.
